Overflowing Joy Unspeakable
The following is an excerpt from the story in The Porterville Recorder:
Joy-a supernatural gift of love…
“You received the word in much affliction, with joy inspired by the Holy Spirit; so that you became an example to all” — (I Thessalonians 1:6,7 RSV). Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit promised us. While God often grants us blessings of joy that come with seeing an unexpected beautiful scene, or singing and fellowshipping with other Christians or receiving a surprise gift, the joy of the Spirit is something deeper. It is the supernatural joy in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
“I (Jesus) have told you these things that my joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be full measure complete and overflowing.” (John 15:11 amplified version)
This is a different way to think of joy. The joy that Jesus promised me is through the Spirit. Because of this, Jesus my Lord is with me in all circumstances because He lives as the Holy Spirit in my heart. Along with Him comes His joy. It is perfect joy.
My special joy today is learning that no matter how bad life is I can claim His joy in the midst of it. It even makes the unexpected joyful surprises in life more fulfilling and exuberant.
